野外彫刻国際コンクール UBEビエンナーレ(現代日本彫刻展) 山口県宇部市ときわ公園 UBE BIENNALE UBE International Sculpture Competition

UBE City in Yamaguchi Prefecture, is known as a city of greenery, flowers and sculptures. UBE Biennale (UBE International Sculpture Competition) was started as an outdoor sculpture exhibition, which aimed to beautify the city and bring hope to the citizens after war. It has been held biennially since 1961 and in cooperation with various people and fields, it has grown into an international sculpture competition and Japan's largest outdoor sculpture exhibition.

The permanent collection of 200 works, which were assembled through UBE Biennale, are on display mainly in Tokiwa Park and other various public spaces in Ube City. The collection shows Japanese post-war sculpture history and transition, reflecting the state and ideology of society thorough out that period. You can experience a giant art museum spread over the city and half a century of outdoor sculpture history.
